Boring stuff on blogging

I’ve been looking into ways to increase traffic to my blog. One recommendation that sort of took me by surprise was to include the word ‘boring’ in the post title.

No, I’m not serious. But I’m all about honesty here, and I think the word ‘boring’ is likely an accurate description of this post. So why am I posting it? Good question. No answer.

Here are my random blogging related notes.

I didn’t mention blogging more in my New Year’s goals because I wasn’t really planning on it at the time. But I’m feeling like I want to so let’s just go with it.

I’m thinking I may finally upgrade and drop the ‘.wordpress’. What do you think?

In catching up on my blog reading I realized that Feedly does not keep posts older than 1 month marked as unread. WHAT??? It’s 2 weeks on Bloglovin’. So I’m currently trialing BazQux ($19/yr) for 30 days in combination with FeeddlerPro on my iPhone ($5). I’m liking it. I think I will go this route, and thought I would share in case there are any others still mourning the loss of Google Reader.

Why is it so ridiculously painful to comment on a post via my phone? I can’t be the only one who has problems with this. If you have any tips, please share.

As it turns out I haven’t been the only one cutting back on blogging over the last year. A lot of my favorite bloggers from back in the day aren’t blogging anymore or at a reduced frequency. If I’m going to blog more you should too. Obviously. We all know who I’m talking about. Yes, YOU. (And I don’t want to hear all that mumbo jumbo about, “But I don’t have a blog!” Start one. Problem solved.)

  1. I can’t help you with the comments thing. I actually just installed a third-party commenting system because my Blogger comments have sucked for a long time and this was supposed to be easier. I’m so old school that I use my computer to leave comments. Whatev.
And I’m super happy to be back to blogging, too! I know you were talking to me. It’s so cool, several of my favorite bloggers (YOU!) seem to be getting back to it this year. Yay!

  2. I love that you said back in the day. It makes blogging feel like a moment in time that has been long forgotten. Kinda like back in the day when I had to goggle my questions about life instead of just asking Siri.

  3. I am still debating on upgrading my blog at some point to and getting my own domain name. I keep pushing it off. One of my New Year’s resolutions was to blog more consistently. We’ll see how I do. 😉

    • I keep putting it off too and I’m not totally sure why. I think maybe in my mind that means I have to blog more “seriously” and that feels intimidating.
