Yes, I will gladly get Daddy

Here’s the thing about toddlers. At least my toddler. She can’t be reasoned with. Very basic logically thinking is a skill she just does not have. And it KILLS me. I mean, I understand that she is young and will learn these things. (Dear GOD, PLEASE tell me she will learn these things!) But that understanding does not make it any less frustrating. For example, we have this kind of conversation ALL. THE. TIME.

Ruby: Will you lay with me?
Me: Yes. I will lay with you for 2 minutes.
Ruby: No! I don’t want you to lay with me! I want to lay BY MYSELF!
Me: Okay.
Ruby: NOOOOO!!!!! Don’t leave me!!!!
Me: Then why did you say you wanted to lay by yourself?
Ruby: Because I will be lonely.
Me: No. Why did you say you wanted to lay by yourself if you didn’t ACTUALLY want to lay by yourself?
Ruby: Because. I want to lay with Daddy! Will you please go get Daddy?

  1. Heh. It’s not just your toddler. I still have battles like that with my four-year-old. But! The six-year-old is finally starting to get it, so there’s hope!
